My intention in making paintings using my menstrual blood is to create beauty from something that is most commonly regarded as shameful. I consider my paintings as personal and political images presenting a positive attitude toward menstruation. For me, menstruation signals a time to periodically rest and replenish. This period is highly private yet universal and treated invisibly.
